This is how I would like to make the individual classes. I would walk around helping them, showing them new things, or just leaving them alone to do what they do. I would get up early and drive to the city center and open this big fancy (intimidating to my young self) yoga studio and people would arrive over the course of two or three hours and do their practice. I used to be a yoga teacher, and the best kind of class I taught was the Mysore Style Self Practice class. I have been thinking and rethinking this issue of the “individual lesson,” the one-on-one lesson. If you do every lesson uploaded that would be around six half-hour practice sessions a week. You can slow the videos down and catch up on the week’s lessons.

Here all the classes are stored for watching at a later time. This is so everyone could, conceivably, aim to do most of the weekly lessons and we can all progress on a single piece together. As of 2023 I am making the lessons shorter and focusing on one piece at a time. Nobody can hear you playing, so you get to privately play along with me, and a bunch of other fellow guitarists. In these group lessons we work on specific pieces that I am transcribing or composing. So from this framework we have three types of classes: Group Classes. This happens in the individual (one-on-one) classes. I hear what you’re doing and this helps me to know what to present to you next, or how to structure the play to deepen what you already know. You play with it alone outside of classes, etc… We play with what has been presented, repeating or varying. I show things one at a time, as clearly as possible. The cornerstones of Montessori’s approach to education are: Presentation. My biggest inspiration for teaching is Maria Montessori.
